Briar Village

Ellis and Moore were appointed by Havering Council to undertake the scheme design for Briar Village Estate in Romford. Subsequently, Phil was appointed as Ellis and Moore’s director by Allenbuild to oversee the detailed design of the proposed new block of flats and terrace of houses at the site.

AS layouts for the main block varied substantially from floor to floor, a loadbearing solution for this three storey was not feasible. The structure was therefore designed as a reinforced concrete flat slab construction on piled foundations.

The terrace of houses were also on piled foundations, with a timber framed superstructure.
